In the tradition of great Melbourne songwriters Nick Cave, Paul Kelly and Stephen Cummings comes Turly. Beautiful melodies, heartfelt lyrics and powerful musicianship plunder every song throughout the audio wonderland that is Turly the EP.
From the combustible Camomile to the soaring textures in Ballad of YoBo, to the jaunty stomp and haromies of Little Piece of Turf, this debut release five song EP serves in some respects as just one of many musical blueprints for the future of Popular Music.
Showcasing his amazing singer/songwriter/guitarist storytelling skills, Turly leads the band on a slightly wayward indie romp across the musical countryside, faithfully supported by Chris Bekker on bass and Cameron McGlynchey on drums. And with Younger Turly on drums for the wistful Big Tree, a beautifully sad folk-inspired song set in the brothers' home town, the band deliver. Or as David Saunders of The Melbourne Age succinctly puts it:
"Most pleasing is Turly's apparent lack of desire to try sounding like anybody else."
Matt Turley - Guitar Vox
Cameron McGlinchey - Drums (Tracks 1,2,4,5)
Chris Bekker - Bass
Luke Turley - Drums (Track 3)
