Nat Bartsch Trio

Springs, for all the Winters

Nat Bartsch Trio performs lush, beautiful music with clarity, honesty and soulfulness. A young contemporary jazz piano trio based in Melbourne, Australia, the group showcases the compositions of young pianist Nat Bartsch. Joined by Josh Holt on double bass and Leigh Fisher on drums, they are particularly influenced by the improvised music of Scandinavia, the compositions of Debussy and indie bands such as Elbow, Radiohead and Sigur Ros.

The trio perform regularly in Melbourne’s vibrant jazz scene.  They have since progressed to national and international touring. In 2009 Nat Bartsch Trio performed sell-out concerts in Tokyo and Fukuoka, Japan, collaborating with bassist Seigo Matsunaga. The trio has performed at the inaugural Walsh Bay Jazz Festival in Sydney, the Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival and will perform at this year’s Brisbane Jazz Festival.

In November the trio are looking forward to the most exciting concert of their career, supporting internationally acclaimed jazz veteran Abdullah Ibrahim and his septet, Ekaya, at the Jazz-Transfer Festival in Germany.

"Her approach unites lyrical beauty with unsentimental abstraction in a fascinating way." (Tord Gustavsen)
