The Quills

Some New Place

Their debut EP, 'Some New Place', self-produced with the help of local engineers, was recorded primarily at Yooniq Studios, Brisbane, over six months in 2007. It was a daunting but exciting first time for the band and one that greatly helped secure their sound. Released independently, 'Some New Place' debuted at no. 1 on the 4ZzZfm top 20 and has sold almost 500 copies not including digital sales.

The past six months have been busy for The Quills. After launching their EP in December to a standing room only 200+ crowd at The Globe Theatre in Brisbane, they played a hugely successful Woodford Folk Festival, performing three shows and hosting one of the most popular artist signings of the festival - their half-hour time slot had to be extended due to demand. Strengthened by the introduction of a new bass player, The Quills continued to play an extensive number of shows across south-east Queensland including appearances alongside exciting Australian acts Operator Please and Sparkadia.

With their lineup completed and a sound they finally feel they own, The Quills are excited about the future. In the next two months they will be playing free shows at numerous local schools to help with fundraising for charity. Their other 2008 plans include a return to the recording studio as well as a tour of the UK.

Awesome 13-Oct-2008
Really interesting drum beats and synth parts! Plus the singer's voice is sweeeet! Only negative point is that there isn't more tracks!
