The Readies describe their album, Embrace Tiger, as "rhinestone on velvet". Beat Magazine's Rory Jeffs agrees:
"Rhinestones on Velvet" Makes you think of the heady days of the 70's - disco, the decadence, the glamour.
Bernard Robertson is inspired by Ennio Morricone's guitar -mangling madness, and by the precision and lushness of Kraftwerk. Ann-Maree McKee delights in Bassey's and Goldfrapp's ecstatic cling, with range slipping vocals morphing frokm breathy to raw to crystalline. Paul Copeland brings his golden bass, interlocking with charmingly artificial drums. It's trash and glitter, perfect and passionate declarations and glamourous burlesque.
