When a restless Canadian songwriter and a strung out Melbourne songsmith stumbled upon on each others music on the super highway, Little did they know one day their paths would cross in the real world.
Was it divine intervention, or more like Tom, the inventor of myspace that brought this duo together? Early in 2007 Tracy McNeil flew from Toronto to Melbourne.
It wasn't hard for her to find Jordie Lane's name in the local rags, and it was at 'Cactus' Country Music Night in Fitzroy, that they finally met. Instantly the pair knew they had to sit in a room with guitars and see what might happen.
So for two long days and no rest for the wicked Lane and McNeil shared a tale or two of home.
It became clear that they could sing together like they'd been doing so for centuries. Thus the duo 'Fireside Bellows' was formed.
As a vehicle through which both songwriters can celebrate a shared love of old-time country music, Fireside Bellows pay homage to these traditions through their two part harmonies, and classic tunes that enter their repertoire. But they maintain a sense of their own roots, crafting stories of personal experiences of the modern day existence.
Inspired by The Louvin Brothers, Hank Williams, Old Crow Medicine Show, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, The Everybodyfields and The Floor Birds.
Fireside Bellows melting vocal harmonies pierce the listener like an arrow through the heart.
They hope to begin working on a debut recording very soon.
